Vinyl Siding:  Horizontal polyvinyl chloride (PVC) panels that come in a variety of colors and styles.  Vinyl siding was first introduced to the exterior cladding market in the early 1960s and steadily grew in popularity over the next four decades because of its durability, versatility and ease of maintenance. Vinyl siding is highly impact resistant, rigid and strong. Because the color runs all the way through the siding, painting is not required.  Today, vinyl siding is the number one choice of exterior siding across the country.  The U.S. Census Bureau statistics show that twice as many homeowners cover their homes with vinyl than with any other material.

Veneer:   Refers to one-ply or one-thickness of a material; in siding, there are brick and stone veneers; there are also veneers of one wood bonded to another.
