A national organization that publishes model codes for adoption by states and other agencies. Codes include the International Building Code (IBC) and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Insulating Glass Unit (I.G. Unit): A double or triple-paned window separated by a spacer with an air-space between the panes and hermetically sealed at the glass edges. Impact Resistant Glass: Single or double pane construction made up of laminated glass containing a .090 interlayer. Infiltration: The movement of outdoor air into the interior of a building through cracks around windows and doors or in walls, roofs, and floors. Infrared Radiation: Invisible, electromagnetic radiation beyond red light on the spectrum, with wavelengths greater than 0.7 microns. Insulated Shutters: Insulating panels that cover a window opening to reduce heat loss. Insulated Window: A window with multiple glazing that provides one or more air spaces between layers of glazing.
