Head Board: A flat board cut to fit the contour of a bow or bay window and installed between the head jambs and the flat wall surface to finish off that area which would normally be ceiling. Header: A heavy beam extended across the top of the rough opening to prevent the weight of wall or roof from resting on the window frame. Head Expander: A vinyl shape cut the width of the product and placed on the head, fitting snugly. This piece is used as a filler to expand or lengthen the unit from the head and take up the gap in the opening between the unit and the opening in the unit. Helps compensate for out-of-square openings. Heat-Absorbing Glass: Window glass containing chemicals (with gray, bronze, or blue-green tint) which absorb light and heat radiation, and reduce glare and brightness. Heat Gain: The transfer of heat from outside to inside by means of conduction, convection, and radiation through all surfaces of a house. Heat Loss: The transfer of heat from inside to outside by means of conduction, convection, and radiation through all surfaces of a house. Hinged Windows: Windows (casement, awning, and hopper) with an operating sash that has hinges on one side. Hook Accessory: Accessories that snap to the hook frame and provide easy installation. Hopper: A window that’s hinged on the bottom where the sash opens inward for ventilation. Horizontal Slider: A window with a movable panel that slides horizontally. Can be a single slider (one panel moves) or a double slider (both panels can move).
